The Freeloadin Origin Story
Why we built a map of every free resource in the UK, and why it will always remain free.
The Freeloadin Origin Story
We started Freeloadin because finding help shouldn't be harder than needing it.
When you're looking for a food bank, an emergency dental clinic, or a free legal service, you are often already in a state of crisis. You don't have the time or the mental bandwidth to sift through twelve different fragmented directories, some of which require you to create an account, or hide behind paywalls, or haven't been updated since 2019.
The Problem with Existing Directories
Most resources online are:
- Fragmented: One site for food, another for health, another for education.
- Gatekept: Requiring sign-ups, email addresses, or unnecessary personal data.
- Opaque: Hard to verify if the information is still accurate.
Our Solution
Freeloadin is a single, unified map. A completely transparent directory of every free resource on earth (starting with the UK).
No accounts. No paywalls. No tracking.
We built this platform to be fast, accessible, and community-driven. If you see a resource that's missing, you can submit it. If you see something wrong, you can report it.
What's Next?
We're constantly adding new categories. Recently, we added massive datasets for Physical Health Clinics and Digital Resources.
